University of Michigan Launches Groundbreaking LEAPS Bachelor's Program

The University of Michigan’s Marsal Family School of Education is set to introduce an innovative bachelor’s degree program named LEAPS (Learning, Equity, and Problem Solving for the Public Good), starting from the fall of 2024. This pioneering program is designed to immerse students in active experiential learning, emphasizing the analysis of social issues and fostering deep connections with communities.

LEAPS stands out with its unique curriculum that focuses on mastery learning areas such as Ways of Knowing and Public Good. The program is structured to provide students with a dual-form transcript upon graduation. One transcript will be academic, showcasing traditional academic achievements, while the other will be a portfolio-based transcript. This second transcript will detail the real-world experiences and skills acquired during the program, offering a comprehensive view of the students' educational journey.

This educational initiative at the University of Michigan represents a forward-thinking approach to higher education. By blending academic rigor with practical, real-world applications, LEAPS is poised to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to address complex societal challenges. The program's focus on experiential learning and social engagement aligns with the current needs of the job market and societal expectations, making it a significant addition to the University of Michigan's educational offerings.
