Figure AI Secures $675 Million Funding for Humanoid Robot Development

In a significant boost to the field of AI robotics, Figure AI, a startup specializing in the development of human-like robots, is reportedly on the brink of securing $675 million in funding. With a pre-money valuation estimated at around $2 billion, this funding round is poised to propel Figure AI's ambitious endeavor to create humanoid robots capable of undertaking dangerous tasks and addressing labor shortages.

Among the high-profile investors participating in this funding round are Explore Investments, helmed by Jeff Bezos, alongside tech giants Microsoft, Nvidia, and an Amazon-affiliated fund. Additionally, the roster of backers includes notable names such as Intel's venture capital arm, LG Innotek, and Samsung's investment group, among others.

The focal point of Figure AI's mission is the development of Figure 01, a humanoid robot designed to tackle hazardous jobs across various industries. By leveraging advanced AI technology, Figure AI aims to revolutionize sectors grappling with labor shortages, including manufacturing, shipping, logistics, warehousing, and retail.

This reported funding injection comes on the heels of a previous financing round where Figure AI raised $70 million. The company emphasized its commitment to deploying humanoid robots in the workforce, particularly in structured, repetitive, and potentially perilous warehouse environments.

As the robotics industry witnesses a surge in AI-driven innovations, Figure AI's endeavor underscores the growing demand for humanoid robots capable of seamlessly integrating into existing infrastructures without requiring extensive remodeling. With formal agreements anticipated to be finalized imminently, Figure AI is poised to accelerate the development of its groundbreaking humanoid robots, ushering in a new era of automation and efficiency in various sectors.
